Trollinger Law LLC has announced that nominations are now open for its annual Hometown Heroes Award, a program designed to recognize first responders in Charles County and throughout Southern Maryland for their dedication to the community. The firm, known for its personal injury and workers' compensation practice, will accept nominations until the winners are announced on Oct. 5, 2026.
The award is open to all local first responders, including paramedics, police officers, firefighters, emergency response teams, public safety providers, emergency hospital facilities and workers, military service members, and other emergency workers. This broad eligibility ensures that a wide range of individuals who contribute to public safety can be honored for their service.
Each winner will receive a $500 cash prize and four complimentary tickets to a luxury suite at the D.C. United game on October 24. The honorees will also be recognized on the field at halftime, providing a public platform to celebrate their contributions. Previous honorees have included current and retired members of the Charles County Sheriff's Office, the Marine Corps, the Charles County Department of Emergency Medical Services, local police and fire departments, and volunteer rescue squads.
Matt Trollinger, founder of Trollinger Law and a personal injury and workers' compensation lawyer in Waldorf, emphasized the importance of the award. "We started Hometown Heroes as a way to honor a group of people whose efforts to protect and serve others often happen behind the scenes, with no expectation of recognition," he said. "First responders help people and families during some of their darkest and most vulnerable hours. We're proud to express our appreciation for their courage and support."
The Hometown Heroes Award highlights the critical role that first responders play in maintaining community safety and well-being. By recognizing these individuals, Trollinger Law aims to raise awareness about the sacrifices made by those who respond to emergencies, often at great personal risk. This initiative also fosters a sense of community pride and encourages others to appreciate the dedication of local heroes.
For those interested in nominating a deserving first responder, the process is straightforward. Nominations can be submitted, and questions can be directed to Dawn Williamson via email at dawn@trollingerlaw.com. This opportunity allows residents to show gratitude to the people who are there for them in times of crisis.
