Partners Group's AI Collaboration Boosts EBITDA at Portfolio Companies

Partners Group, a global private markets firm, has announced that its AI transformation program at US insurance broker Foundation Risk Partners (FRP) generated a 120 basis point (bps) EBITDA margin uplift, representing $10 million in financial impact. The initiative, delivered in collaboration with Version 1, another Partners Group portfolio company, highlights how artificial intelligence can drive value creation through private equity portfolio partnerships.

FRP, founded in 2017 and employing over 3,000 people across 68 locations, built a proprietary policy-level dataset that served as the foundation for the AI program. Version 1's AI Labs developed two agentic AI solutions: one reduces the average policy processing cycle for new clients by 94%, leading to a doubling in close rates; the other automates the human-intensive policy checking task. The program, executed by a seven-person team augmented by Version 1, took just 14 weeks from concept to production for the first use case.

Partners Group acquired both FRP and Version 1 in 2022, recognizing growth tailwinds in the US insurance brokerage sector and AI-first digital transformation services in the UK and Ireland. Since then, both companies have doubled their revenues. Wolf Scheider, Head of Private Equity at Partners Group, said, "We have delivered synergies within our own portfolio to create tangible value, in this case pairing a US insurance brokerage with an AI technology partner in the UK and Ireland. Through this, we have turned a clean dataset into $10 million EBITDA uplift and real, measurable growth. We continue to look for opportunities to leverage AI expertise across our portfolio companies."

The success of this collaboration underscores the potential for AI to transform traditional industries and create significant financial impact. For the insurance brokerage industry, it demonstrates how data-driven AI can streamline operations and improve efficiency. For the private equity sector, it illustrates a model of cross-portfolio synergy that can enhance value creation beyond financial engineering. As AI adoption accelerates, such initiatives could become a competitive differentiator for firms that can effectively harness their portfolio companies' collective expertise.

Partners Group, with over $186 billion in assets under management, continues to focus on operational improvements and technology-driven growth. The company's approach, rooted in its Swiss heritage and Colorado presence, emphasizes transforming businesses into market leaders. This AI collaboration is a prime example of that strategy in action.
