Eco Expo Asia 2026, jointly organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, and co-organised by the Environment and Ecology Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), will be held from 26 to 29 October at AsiaWorld-Expo. The expo, now in its 21st edition, will bring together over 340 exhibitors from 16 countries and regions under the theme "Connecting the World for a Sustainable Future." The event will feature a record 18 pavilions, including the debut of an ASEAN Pavilion with 13 green technology companies from eight member countries, and a first-time Qinghai Pavilion from the Chinese Mainland.
HKTDC Associate Executive Director Silas Chu highlighted the expo's growing international reach, noting first-time participants from Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. "Green transformation has shifted from policy aspiration to market rule," Chu said, emphasising that the expo will help enterprises capitalise on new prospects emerging from the global transition to carbon neutrality. The event aligns with the HKSAR Government's First Five-Year Plan and the Policy Address, which set out a vision for building a green and liveable city.
A key indicator of the region's commitment to sustainability is the "HKTDC ESG Index 2026," which rose to 67.3 from 64.2 last year, well above the neutral threshold of 50. The survey revealed that 93% of respondents have integrated ESG into their business decision-making, and the share of businesses sourcing or selling ESG-related products and services jumped from 29% in 2025 to 46% in 2026. According to the HKTDC ESG Index 2026, Hong Kong is well-positioned to unlock commercial opportunities across banking and finance, professional services, and innovation and technology. The survey also identified the most impactful digital and ESG platforms as sustainable supply chain platforms (45%), AI analytics (37%), and cloud data reporting (30%).
The expo will spotlight four thematic areas: Green Energy in Motion, Frontier Green Tech, Building for a Greener City, and From Waste to Worth. Among the innovations on display, EcoCeres Ltd. will debut its advanced renewable Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) made from waste materials, while Stellerus Technology Limited will showcase the Multi-Spectral Imaging Carbon Observatory (MUSICO), the world's first lightweight, high-resolution greenhouse gas observatory, already deployed on China's Tiangong space station. Green Vigor Limited will exhibit a modular hydropower system that converts wasted hydraulic resources in buildings into electricity, and AEC GreenTech Innovations Limited will present a plastering and paint spraying robot that works five times faster than manual labour while halving material use.
More than 30 forums and seminars will be held during the expo, bringing together over 80 government officials, industry leaders, and business representatives. The annual Eco Asia Conference will feature speakers such as Professor Su Hui from HKUST, who spearheaded MUSICO's development, and Avinash Persaud, Special Advisor on Climate Change to the President of the Inter-American Development Bank. The final day, 29 October, will be Public Day with free admission, offering workshops on recycled paper making and green cleaners, and seminars on climate and food waste upcycling.
For those planning to attend, free shuttle bus services will connect the fair venues, major hotels, and transport interchanges, with details available at https://www.hktdc.com/event/ecoexpoasia/tc/travel-to-fairground-awe.
