Autonomic AI, LLC, based in Temecula, California, has announced AssuredCode-C, a specialized high-assurance software synthesis engine designed for mission-critical military platforms, hypersonic vehicles, and autonomous defense hardware. The announcement follows the earlier release of AssuredCode and targets the growing demand for reliable code generation in safety-critical applications.
In an industry increasingly reliant on Large Language Models (LLMs) for code generation, AssuredCode-C deliberately avoids competing with general-purpose LLMs. Instead, it focuses exclusively on meeting stringent military-grade safety, security, and execution requirements. The platform restricts output to strictly governed, MISRA-compliant bare-metal C, ensuring maximum optimization, memory safety, and determinism on air-gapped embedded systems.
The process involves engineers developing templates offline, which are then populated into specifications and submitted to AssuredCode-C. These templates undergo exhaustive testing and simulation, which is crucial for safety. The system's breakthrough performance includes synthesis speeds of under 0.5 milliseconds per code block, enabling real-time code generation at the sensor edge. Additionally, average energy consumption is approximately 2 Joules per passing module, which is about 1/100th the energy footprint of traditional LLM inference pipelines. This efficiency allows mission-critical systems to generate verified updates on power-constrained batteries, micro-UAVs, and tactical hardware.
To guarantee zero platform downtime and eliminate catastrophic flight-controller failures, AssuredCode-C pairs ultra-fast generation with a certified Blue-Green runtime pipeline. Live sensor frames enter a certified hardware router that splits the signal across two isolated partitions: Blue (authoritative, driving actuators) and Green (shadow environment, running freshly synthesized modules). Green outputs are monitored but not actuated, and they undergo automated comparison and safety gates. Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) verification is also possible for tactical and strategic missions. After passing all checks, authority is transferred atomically to the Green partition with zero interruption. The former Blue partition then becomes the new shadow, providing instant hardware-level version failover.
"In autonomous environments, safety must be top priority. 'Statistically probable' software is a critical vulnerability," said John Harby, Founder and CEO of Autonomic AI. "AssuredCode-C does not look to compete with LLM code generation. AssuredCode-C is a razor-focused, military-grade engine designed to output exact, MISRA-compliant bare-metal C in under half a millisecond while drawing a fraction of the power required by conventional AI."
The implications of this technology are significant for both defense and private sectors. For defense, it offers a way to generate and update software in real-time on platforms like hypersonic vehicles and autonomous drones, enhancing operational safety and reliability. In the private sector, applications could include autonomous vehicles, industrial robotics, and other systems where safety and low power consumption are critical.
AssuredCode-C is available for integration evaluation under NDA, classified site demonstrations, and pilot deployment with U.S. Defense Primes, the Department of Defense, and allied defense agencies. Both AssuredCode and AssuredCode-C are patent pending.
