Vinhomes Green Paradise, a 2,870-hectare coastal urban development in Can Gio, Vietnam, has been named the first Official Participant worldwide in the New7Wonders "7 Wonders of Future Cities" campaign. The recognition, announced via Media OutReach Newswire, positions the project as a global benchmark for cities that harmonize urban life with natural ecosystems.
The campaign evaluates projects across three pillars: Environment & Nature, Smart Cities, and People-Centered Development. Vinhomes Green Paradise excels in each. It borders the UNESCO-recognized 75,000-hectare Can Gio Mangrove Biosphere Reserve and dedicates just 16% of its land to buildings, leaving the rest for greenery and water, anchored by an 800-hectare natural saltwater lagoon. Smart city features include IoT, big data, and AI for urban management and environmental monitoring. People-centered elements comprise world-class healthcare through Vinmec's collaboration with Cleveland Clinic, international schools like Vinschool and Brighton College, premium senior living, and a 7-hectare theater, two 18-hole golf courses, and a 122-hectare VinWonders complex.
Jean-Paul de la Fuente, Director of New7Wonders, said the project fulfills the campaign's key criteria and reflects a pioneering mission to deliver on ESG commitments and beyond. He called the certification a symbolic moment for the campaign.
What sets Vinhomes Green Paradise apart is its enhanced ESG++ framework, which goes beyond standard ESG to include Regeneration and Climate Adaptation. The project uses K-DPM technology to transform dredged sediment into construction fill, reducing emissions and sand extraction. It targets 100% clean electricity from offshore wind, solar, and battery storage, and plans net-zero internal mobility with electric vehicles and a high-speed rail link to Ho Chi Minh City. A Forest Regeneration and Climate Adaptation Fund will support mangrove restoration, and the project pursues BREEAM and ISO 37122 certifications.
Nguyen Thu Hang, CEO of Vinhomes, stated that the three pillars are guiding principles for creating a world-class urban landmark. The global voting phase opens on October 31, 2026. For more information, visit https://vinhomes.vn/en.
This recognition matters because it signals a shift in urban development toward regenerative models that address climate risks. As the One Ocean Foundation reports, 70% of megacities are coastal and generate half of global GDP, facing growing climate threats. Vinhomes Green Paradise offers a replicable blueprint for coastal cities to lead climate action through nature-based solutions and smart technology, potentially influencing urban planning worldwide.
