tZERO Secures CFTC Approval for Derivatives Clearing, Expanding Institutional Infrastructure

tZERO Group, Inc., the Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) company powering the tokenized economy, announced that the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has approved the registration of its wholly owned subsidiary, tZERO DCO, LLC, as a derivatives clearing organization (DCO). The approval, reported via NEWMEDIAWIRE, marks a significant expansion of tZERO's regulated infrastructure, which now spans securities and derivatives. tZERO's registration as a derivatives contract market (DCM) is expected to follow shortly.

The DCO approval opens a new derivatives vertical for tZERO Group, Inc.'s IaaS business. Alongside its existing securities and tokenized asset capabilities, tZERO can now develop a regulated exchange and clearinghouse for derivative products such as event contracts and, subject to regulatory product approvals, tokenized and conventional derivatives, perpetual futures, and other crypto products. This expansion allows tZERO to support a broader range of markets and provide full-stack turnkey capabilities with horizontal interoperability across securities and derivatives workflows.

For institutional clients, the new capabilities create a path to develop derivative offerings using tZERO's trading and clearing infrastructure, subject to product approvals, applicable regulatory requirements, and operational readiness. The move advances tZERO's multi-asset model, designed to help institutions offer customers access to a range of financial products through modular integrations and white label solutions. "This is a major expansion of what tZERO can build with institutions," said Alan Konevsky, Chief Executive Officer of tZERO. "We have spent years assembling regulated infrastructure for tokenized securities and other financial assets. With a clearinghouse registration, and forthcoming exchange registration for derivatives, we can address an additional market and support a much broader set of client ambitions."

The combination distinguishes tZERO within the tokenization market, where many providers focus on issuing or servicing tokenized assets. tZERO's regulated capabilities span multiple stages of the market lifecycle, and the DCO, together with the forthcoming DCM, extends that infrastructure from securities into derivatives. "This is a pinnacle moment in our licensing journey," said Vanessa Savino, Chief Legal and Administrative Officer of tZERO. "We'll grow this new capability the same way we have in securities: iteratively, responsibly and in step with our clients' needs."

tZERO initially announced its applications for both registrations in September 2025. A DCO is a CFTC-regulated clearinghouse that provides clearing and settlement services for derivatives transactions and manages associated counterparty credit risk. More information about tZERO DCO, LLC can be found here. The new entities will enable tZERO to support institutional clients that wish to develop derivatives products for trading through its newly approved clearinghouse and pending exchange, subject to applicable regulatory and operational requirements. This development matters for the financial industry as it signals a convergence of traditional derivatives and digital assets infrastructure, potentially lowering barriers for institutions to offer multi-asset products and accelerating the adoption of tokenized markets.
