Santa Clarita Secures $1.2 Million for Intersection Safety Upgrades Amid Rising Pedestrian and Bicycle Collisions

Pedestrian and intersection collisions remain a persistent danger on Santa Clarita's busiest roads, and the city is now backing the problem with federal dollars. Barry P. Goldberg's team of personal injury lawyers serving the Santa Clarita Valley is calling attention to the issue as more than $1.2 million in federal funding heads toward safety improvements at some of the city's highest-volume intersections.

In May 2026, Representative George Whitesides joined Santa Clarita Mayor Laurene Weste and city officials to announce the investment, which Whitesides secured through Congress's annual budget process. The funding will modernize traffic flow and pedestrian safety at three of the city's busiest crossings: Valencia Boulevard and Magic Mountain Parkway, McBean Parkway and Newhall Ranch Road, and Golden Valley Road and Centre Pointe Parkway.

The need is well documented. According to city data, 73% of drivers were found at fault in collisions involving pedestrians in Santa Clarita in 2024. Bicycle collisions rose 14% over the prior year, and pedestrian- and bicycle-related incidents together climbed 18%.

"These intersections are where the most serious injuries happen," said Barry P. Goldberg, founding attorney of the firm that shares his name. "A driver running a red light or turning without looking can change a pedestrian's life in an instant. Infrastructure that helps drivers see the people crossing in front of them is a real step forward, and we're glad to see this kind of investment coming to our own community."

Barry P. Goldberg offers free consultations to anyone injured in an accident or collision in Santa Clarita and the surrounding communities. The firm handles cases on a contingency basis, meaning there are no upfront costs and no fees unless it recovers for the client.
