Puerto Rico's Day at the Ballpark continues its 2026 nationwide series with three upcoming celebrations in Colorado, Chicago, and Los Angeles, highlighting the island's deep connection to baseball. Presented by Discover Puerto Rico and produced by 21 Events, the series has been honoring Puerto Rican players and culture in ballparks across the country since 2023. The upcoming events will take place at Coors Field in Colorado on August 18, Rate Field in Chicago on August 22, and Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on August 23.
At Coors Field, the Colorado Rockies will host the celebration, featuring recognition of Willi Castro and Coach Andy González. The program includes a first pitch by Benjamin Oaks, owner of Aguanile, the first Puerto Rican dinner club in Denver, along with an on-field presentation, scoreboard tributes, and various in-stadium promotional and fan engagement activities.
In Chicago, the event will coincide with the New York Mets' visit to the Chicago White Sox. The celebration will honor legendary ballplayer Roberto Hernandez, with a first pitch thrown by award-winning Puerto Rican chef Monti Carlo. Fans can expect an on-field presentation and a series of in-stadium activations that celebrate Puerto Rico's contributions to baseball.
The Los Angeles stop at Dodger Stadium will recognize Kiké Hernández and Edwin Diaz. Puerto Rican model, actress, and former Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2020, Estefanía Soto, will throw the first pitch. The event will also include an on-field presentation and additional experiences connecting fans with Puerto Rico's baseball tradition. All stadiums will display a 60-second scoreboard video presenting the beauty and heritage of the island.
Jorge L. Pérez, CEO of Discover Puerto Rico, emphasized the significance of the series, noting that Puerto Rico's relationship with baseball is rooted in generations of players who have competed at the highest level. He highlighted Carlos Beltrán's recent induction as Puerto Rico's sixth member of the National Baseball Hall of Fame, further cementing the island's legacy in the sport.
The events also offer fans a chance to win a trip to Puerto Rico through the Ballpark to Island Giveaway. The prize includes airfare, hotel accommodations, and special experiences for two. The giveaway is open to U.S. residents 18 and over, with no purchase necessary, and fans can enter by visiting the provided link.
Ralph Paniagua, Managing Director of 21 Events, explained that the series allows for different stories to be told in each city, recognizing that Puerto Rico's baseball history is not defined by one player or generation. He noted that players have made an impact across the game, and these events provide an opportunity to celebrate those contributions in front of fans and communities that remember them.
Since its debut in 2023, Puerto Rico's Day at the Ballpark has grown into a signature national series. Following the August events, the 2026 series will continue in September, carrying the celebration to its final scheduled stop of the season.
