According to the company’s July 15 announcement, the construction of logistics infrastructure, expansion of analytics capabilities, and harmonization of IT systems are all proceeding on schedule. Detailed engineering for the production facilities has begun, and the steel structure for a new logistics hall with storage capacity for approximately 1,800 pallets has been erected, with interior fit-out expected to be completed within the next six months.

The facility is being built in collaboration with PowerCo SE, following agreements on process development, capacity expansion, and production of LFP cathode material (as disclosed in an ad hoc release dated October 6, 2025). After the topping-out ceremony for a new state-of-the-art spray tower in April 2026, trial operations for the spray tower are scheduled to begin in Q4 2026. The LFP production facility is set to commence operations in 2028 with an annual capacity of 15,000 tonnes, which will increase IBU-tec’s existing capacities by approximately five times. This facility is the first of its kind in Europe and is considered a key building block in developing a European battery value chain.

The production process is proprietary, developed by IBU-tec, and does not rely on Chinese technology; it is tailored to the European market. The resulting battery material boasts a superior CO2 footprint, consuming only about half the energy compared to conventional Chinese processes. PowerCo has contractually secured the entire production volume for a minimum period of ten years, underscoring the strategic importance of this development.
