Cognatum Launches Intelligence Management System to Govern Enterprise AI Knowledge

Dallas-based Cognatum has launched the world's first Intelligence Management System, Cognatum, designed to address a critical challenge in enterprise AI: ensuring that both human workers and AI agents can find and trust the same answer. The company, founded by Perry Robinson, Jerry Murry, Scott Getchel, and Gary Murry, aims to solve the problem of scattered, unverified knowledge that costs enterprises millions annually. According to IDC, the average knowledge worker spends 2.5 hours daily searching for information or verifying AI results, costing organizations of 1,000 people more than $5 million a year.

The problem stems from the fact that existing knowledge management systems (KMS) were built for a time when only humans read documents. With AI now being a primary consumer of corporate knowledge, the ISO 30401 standard—published in 2018 to provide a formal framework for managing knowledge assets—has become outdated. Cognatum builds on ISO 30401 foundations but extends them for the AI age. "Every enterprise AI conversation eventually arrives at the same question, and it isn't about the model," said Perry Robinson, CEO of Cognatum. "It's about finding the answer and knowing the answer is right. That's a knowledge management problem and knowledge management stopped being a project the day the primary consumer became a machine."

Cognatum operates as a continuous loop with eight steps across four phases: Intake, Refine, Elevate, and Govern & Activate. It ingests content from over 50 enterprise systems, including SharePoint, Box, Salesforce, HubSpot, Snowflake, Confluence, Microsoft Teams, Jira, ServiceNow, and Workday, without requiring data migration. The system normalizes information into question, answer, context, and source; uses AI to flag duplicates, conflicts, and staleness; builds a living knowledge graph; and provides a single human sign-off for approval, logged in Microsoft Teams. Approved knowledge is then deployed identically to people and AI, with full replayability of any answer as it stood on the day it was served.

Scott Getchel, Head of AI, who started the project to track his own work, noted, "What people tell me in every conversation is that their knowledge lives in fifteen different systems and they need fifteen logins to get at it. The answer isn't a sixteenth system. It's one loop, running above all of them, that keeps track of what's current, who signed off on it, and where it came from."

Cognatum is available now, with the first customer cohorts going live this month and additional cohorts through the fall. Each engagement begins with a 30-day beta on the customer's own instance, documents, and workflows. Deployment is a single-tenant appliance with an air-gapped option, Microsoft Teams-native approvals, and full API and MCP endpoints for downstream agents. For more information, visit cognatum.ai.

The launch of Cognatum could significantly impact regulated industries such as banking, insurance, life sciences, aerospace, and healthcare, where the need for auditable, approved knowledge is paramount. By providing a governed home for organizational knowledge that is served identically to humans and AI, Cognatum addresses a growing pain point in enterprise AI adoption. As companies increasingly deploy AI agents, the ability to trace answers to their source and approver becomes essential for compliance and trust. Cognatum's approach ensures that humans remain in the loop for approvals while AI runs the continuous maintenance loop, potentially reducing the time and cost associated with knowledge verification. The company's headquarters in Dallas positions it at the center of a burgeoning tech ecosystem, and its founders' experience—including Robinson's previous co-founding of unicorn Medable, Inc.—lends credibility to its ambitious vision.
