Mullen Automotive, an emerging electric vehicle manufacturer, has announced a significant expansion of its commercial EV dealer network through its subsidiary, Bollinger Motors. The company has partnered with TEC Equipment, Inc., adding 20 select sales and service locations across the Western United States, marking a crucial step in Bollinger's westward expansion. The new partnership with TEC Equipment, a family-owned, full-service truck and trailer dealership established in 1976, brings Bollinger Motors' presence to key markets in Arizona, California, Iowa, Nebraska, Nevada, Oregon, South Dakota, and Washington. This strategic move not only broadens Bollinger's geographical footprint but also strengthens its position in the competitive EV market.
Jim Connelly, Chief Revenue Officer for Bollinger Motors, emphasized the importance of this expansion, stating that the addition of TEC Equipment expands Bollinger Motors' national dealer network westward and gives the company a solid foundation in several important markets. Connelly also highlighted TEC's reputation as an industry leader in sales and service, noting that the partnership provides a critical link to the company's commitment to electrification and customer support. This expansion comes at a crucial time for Mullen Automotive, as the company continues to make strides in the EV sector. In August 2023, Mullen began commercial vehicle production at its Tunica, Mississippi plant, and in September 2023, the company received IRS approval for federal EV tax credits on its commercial vehicles. This Qualified Manufacturer designation offers eligible customers up to $7,500 per vehicle, potentially boosting sales and adoption of Mullen's EVs.
Mullen's product lineup includes the Mullen ONE, a Class 1 EV cargo van, and the Mullen THREE, a Class 3 EV cab chassis truck, both of which are California Air Resource Board and EPA certified and available for sale in the U.S. as of January 2024. These vehicles represent Mullen's commitment to providing sustainable transportation solutions for commercial applications. The expansion of Bollinger Motors' dealer network through TEC Equipment is expected to have significant implications for the commercial EV market in the Western United States. By increasing accessibility to sales and service locations, Mullen and Bollinger are positioning themselves to better serve fleet operators and businesses looking to transition to electric vehicles. This move could potentially accelerate the adoption of EVs in commercial sectors across the region.
Furthermore, this expansion aligns with broader industry trends toward electrification and sustainable transportation. As more businesses and organizations seek to reduce their carbon footprint and comply with increasingly stringent emissions regulations, the availability of commercial EVs and a robust support network becomes crucial. For Mullen Automotive, this expansion represents a strategic step in solidifying its market position and competing with established automakers who are also entering the commercial EV space. The company's focus on building a comprehensive dealer and service network demonstrates its commitment to long-term growth and customer support in the evolving EV landscape. As the automotive industry continues its shift toward electrification, partnerships and network expansions like this one between Bollinger Motors and TEC Equipment will likely play a critical role in shaping the future of commercial transportation. The success of such initiatives could have far-reaching impacts on reducing emissions, improving air quality, and advancing sustainable mobility solutions across the United States.
